The screed bottom plate attaches to the underside of the main screed plate and together they help level, smooth, and compact asphalt material as it leaves the paver. Attached to the bottom plate are key components, including heating rods, tamper bar, and pressure bar. The primary purpose of the screed bottom plate is to secure all the parts required for proper compaction and smoothing of asphalt material. The steel plate provides a solid, durable surface that can withstand exposure to high heat and vibrations. The heating rods are attached directly to the bottom of the steel plate to heat the screed plates to the desired paving temperature. The tamper bar is a steel bar that mounted to the very rear of the screed bottom plate. It works to further compact and smooth the asphalt material as it passes under the screed. The pressure bar with the hydraulic pulsing system generates high density compaction effects on the pavement under paving, and it has to withstand huge stresses during the process.
